Charles Bargue is a collection of almost 200 drawings of casts and lithographs from the 19th century used by art academies to teach the fundamentals of drawing. In these series of training booklets I chose a small number of them according to increasing difficulty
Drawing is the first and a fundamental step in art and in the process of painting.
At the previous level we tackled construction of figure using line with the aim to improve our judgement of proportions, angles and basic shapes.
At the second level we are going to introduce another factor - Value
What is Value? Value refers to how light or dark OR the range between black and white (our paper).
The first few plates are master copies of casts. There are only a maximum of three tones: Highlight, mid-tone, dark. Value is very important to give the illusion of form.
This booklet includes a collection of 21 plates starting from simple to more complex rendering.
A set of over 1000 original photos fully licenced to be used to create artworks such as paintings. You can print these photos as references but not to resell.
You can sell any artwork created from these photos.
These photos are not licenced to be printed and sold.
