"I was impressed with Christopher’s knowledge of colour and colour mixing , he used both his skill as an artist and as a scientist to clarify the effects of light and colour. The course introduced me to painting in oils, as I did not have any previous experience before this. It provided me with a foundation to painting per se and an in-depth knowledge on the subject of colour mixing, pigments, perspective and how to manage and master tools of the trade." -Jammuna Bond
For the passed 3 to 4 years I have been learning different mediums and during the last 12 months I really wanted to learn how to mix and paint with oils. My name is Irene Ridge and I have been learning to paint with oils under supervision of the Artist Chris Vidal since 2015. I have completed four oils paintings with Chris as my teacher and I will be attending further sessions/workshops to enhance my skills on tonal values, brush strokes, still life and perspective. I have learned valuable information from Chris regarding how to mix colours and compliment them in your painting. To enhance your skills you need someone who is going to show you how to hold your brush, to use your paint brush or hold your palette knife and help you to create your vision onto a canvas. Below are two of my oil paintings I completed during my painting session/workshops supervised by Chris at Parramatta Art Society. One is of the Blue Mountains and the other is part of a photograph to produce a perspective painting. I would like to say, 'Thank you Chris' for allowing me to enhance my skills and knowledge of oils from your dedication as a teacher. -Irene Ridge
"Very good teacher" I enjoy Christopher's classes. He gives good explanations and guidance and teaches very well. He sends a lot of informative information and guidance books for painters once you are a student of his which is over and beyond my experience of other art teachers I have had in the past. He has smaller classes to enable him to spend quality time with each student. I gladly recommend Christopher Vidal for inexperienced and experienced artists. -Susan P Staden
