Late afternoon light and shadows at the Blue Mountains, as the sun starts going down in the sky, the long shadows of the massive cliff walls casted on the valleys create interesting contrasts of dark and light as well as of colour.
This location is at Blackheath at a popular rock climbing site known as Sharon Stone.

The combination of the pumpkin, onion, tomato, knife, vine leaves, and olive oil bottle creates an interesting composition with a variety of shapes and textures. Using oil paint allows for rich and vibrant colours, bringing the objects to life on the canvas. The traditional realism approach you took emphasizes capturing the details and textures of each element, giving the painting a sense of depth and realism. The use of a limited palette can create a harmonious colour scheme and adds a sense of unity to the overall composition.

INSPIRATION
A painting inspired by my latest trip to Kanangra Boyd NP a few months ago. The natural beauty of the park and the play of light and colour must have provided me with a lot of inspiration for this painting. Painting weather conditions is interesting and challenging. In this painting I tried to capture one of nature's most beautiful phenomena, the rainbow. The rainbow is also a symbol of hope and a new beginning. The rainbow was painted using multiple glazes of paint in order to achieve its effect of luminosity and transparency.

The Australian outback is a land of striking contrasts, characterized by vast stretches of arid desert, rugged mountains, and unique wildlife. Its harsh conditions make survival challenging, yet it is also a place of immense beauty and resilience.
The Aboriginal people have a profound connection to the land, dating back tens of thousands of years. Their culture, known as the Dreamtime or the Dreaming, intertwines with the natural landscape, as they believe it was shaped by the actions of their ancestors and mythical beings. This connection is spiritual, cultural, and sustains their way of life.
