Oil Painting Course for beginners and Intermediates (adults)
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY below
The aim of this class is to teach you how to paint realistic subjects whether it is a still life, portrait or landscape. Although it is a group class, each individual will be guided according to own needs and everyone follows own pace. Please note that this is a group class and although the group usually consists of beginner students, other more advanced students might be present.
The basic program is a combination from the traditional program to learn the basic skills of painting and drawing.
As a member of the Art Renewal Centre I follow guidelines and ONLY teach representational art that is realism and impressionism. I do not teach abstract, digital or any other forms of contemporary styles.

What you learn?
Absolute beginners might need some instruction about the foundations of drawing, which will be given if needed to cover the basic principles. Training will be focused to develop a keen eye to see and observe while develop the skill of handling line, contour, perspective and values to create form and a convincing representation of light. As you progress you will be introduced to painting starting from monochromatic (one colour) gradually adding more colour as you progress. Training is from simple to complex. The pace at which we progress depends on the individual. The more you practice the quicker you progress. It is always advisable and suggested that you practice at home in order to improve your technique and move on at a faster pace. What are the subjects you learn? Students will be given subjects carefully selected by the tutor to tackle various problems and techniques. As references we will be using:

This pace can be faster for those individuals that draw and paint regularly. Introduction to oil painting and painting in full colour with extensive practice on colour mixing using colour studies. Importance is given to the further improvement in drawing, while getting more experience in mixing colour, paint and brush handling, glazing, direct/indirect painting and edge control.
