To become proficient in any skill, including painting and any other art, one needs to practice the skill regularly, persevere and learn from own mistakes done in the process. In the process one discovers and develop own style and techniques. Each painting that you do is a learning session for a better one that follows. Professional guidance and tuition will help an individual to understand the process and techniques much better and quicker then by trial and error only.
From personal experience, three years of studying art at the School of Arts (CV) gave me a better understanding of the fundamentals in drawing, painting and sculpture which will continue to help me throughout my life. Daily practice of Arts helps me to refine my techniques.
I conduct Adult and Children's Classes in Drawing and Painting at the following locations.
ENROLLMENT AND FEES Fees for each session are as shown for each course (in Children and Adult sections)
Fees need to be paid in advance in bundles (eg for 6 or 8 classes) as shown for each course.
If you pay for 8 lessons you are eligible to attend 8 lessons within that class.
If you miss a class, you do not loose your money as you can attend this session at any time and any unused lessons can be carried over from one term to the next. Sessions are ONLY transferable to a maximum of two terms.
I will do my best to give you the occasional missed class, however I will not guarantee you to cover all missed classes if missing a scheduled class will become a norm.
You are welcome to join at any time during the duration of the course. Payments will be pro-rata and you pay only for the remaining classes in that term.
Student Testimonials & Works
"I was impressed with Christopher’s knowledge of colour and colour mixing , he used both his skill as an artist and as a scientist to clarify the effects of light and colour. The course introduced me to painting in oils, as I did not have any previous experience before this. It provided me with a foundation to painting per se and an in-depth knowledge on the subject of colour mixing, pigments, perspective and how to manage and master tools of the trade." -Jammuna Bond

For the passed 3 to 4 years I have been learning different mediums and during the last 12 months I really wanted to learn how to mix and paint with oils. My name is Irene Ridge and I have been learning to paint with oils under supervision of the Artist Chris Vidal since 2015. I have completed four oils paintings with Chris as my teacher and I will be attending further sessions/workshops to enhance my skills on tonal values, brush strokes, still life and perspective. I have learned valuable information from Chris regarding how to mix colours and compliment them in your painting. To enhance your skills you need someone who is going to show you how to hold your brush, to use your paint brush or hold your palette knife and help you to create your vision onto a canvas. Below are two of my oil paintings I completed during my painting session/workshops supervised by Chris at Parramatta Art Society. One is of the Blue Mountains and the other is part of a photograph to produce a perspective painting. I would like to say, 'Thank you Chris' for allowing me to enhance my skills and knowledge of oils from your dedication as a teacher. -Irene Ridge

"Very good teacher" I enjoy Christopher's classes. He gives good explanations and guidance and teaches very well. He sends a lot of informative information and guidance books for painters once you are a student of his which is over and beyond my experience of other art teachers I have had in the past. He has smaller classes to enable him to spend quality time with each student. I gladly recommend Christopher Vidal for inexperienced and experienced artists. -Susan P Staden
