It is not known what is the reason why humans started living in large communities which gave rise to cities as we know them today. It is probably due to the fact that humans are social animals that managed to survive because of their sense of collaboration and because they are able to benefit each other when working in groups. Huge metropolitan cities are usually built near coastal areas or were rivers, ports and harbors are found. Big cities usually are the centers harboring complex human activities such as business, government, legal etc. Most cities are also enriched with loads of cultural activities, theaters, art galleries, monuments and so on.
