The Australian outback makes up most of the vast interior of this continent. Mostly consisting of arid land and desert, the outback is a land of contrasts that is not meant for the faint hearted.


However the Australian outback is a great inspirational place. Characterized by the red soil, rock formations and beautiful gum trees in combination with beautiful warm lights, it offers unlimited opportunities to the artist to be creative.

Traveling through the outback for several times during the last five years I have numerous of places that I would like to translate onto canvas. Without doubt one of the most amazing regions is the MacDonnell ranges around Alice Springs. Places like Standley Chasm, Palm Valley, King's Canyon and the more famous Ayer's Rock (Uluru) and the Olgas, are all sites that I will be painting in the coming months.
